easy healthy meal ideas

Finding easy healthy meal ideas can often be a challenge. I am always on the look out for new and tasty ways to add variety to my meals without resorting to junk food. It is a struggle not only to find delicious meals, but to make them in a way that is both healthy and fun. Fortunately, I have developed a few simple easy healthy meal ideas that are great to start incorporating into your diet today.

One of the best easy ways to get your kids to eat more healthily is to include vegetables in their meals. With this in mind, try serving a baked sweet potato with a side of baby carrots as a part of their dinner. Not only will your child enjoy the sweet, but the veggies will also help them feel full. You can serve this with a variety of different vegetables, perhaps mixing it with some broccoli or squash for a more complex dish.

Famous Dishes

For lunchtime I like to serve a variety of mixed greens such as kale, spinach, mustard greens, turnips or Brussels sprouts. I usually pair these with either a baked potato or some brown rice. Baked potatoes are also great for snacks throughout the day, so try to serve some baked sweet potato chips with some low fat Mayo on top. For dinner I like to serve leftover pork chops from last night’s dinner. I usually combine the meat with some carrots and cabbage to make a meatloaf dish. Easy healthy meal ideas!

Another set of easy healthy meal ideas is to serve lots of different fresh fruits and vegetables. For example, for breakfast I like to serve an apple, pear, banana, blueberries and an assortment of fresh herbs and spices. For lunch I am even more adventurous by serving an array of fresh vegetables such as spinach, artichokes, zucchini, cauliflower, tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers. For dinner I prefer to serve cherry tomatoes, zucchini, broccoli and cauliflower. These easy healthy meal ideas will have your belly feeling full and satisfied long before dinner.

Cook At Home

Another set of easy healthy meal ideas includes preparing meals at home. For example, instead of buying pre-packaged burgers, roasted chickens, or other processed meats, make your own barbecue. Get your grill ready this weekend by shopping for good hamburger buns and purchasing good BBQ sauce online. Try making vegetable topped burgers that are easy to make. Use a baked potato as a base for your burgers. You could make them a little healthier by using canned veggies instead of processed vegetables.

Makeovers are another one of my easy healthy meal ideas. For example, how about a simple chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting? Make a simple salad into a complete meal by using canned fruit and a jar of tomato soup and whipping up a delicious cake. With a bit of imagination you can create yummy quick meals that taste great and are good for you. You can use lots of different ingredients to create quick nutritious snacks.

Tasty Lunch

How about creating an easy healthy lunchtime menu? Create a salad with whole wheat bread, canned peaches, cucumber, celery, cherry tomatoes and a small jar of grapefruit juice. You can add a little tuna or chicken and you have a complete low fat lunch. How about a delicious bowl of soup with bean sprouts, spinach, broccoli and carrots as the main ingredients? These easy healthy meal ideas will keep your hunger pangs at bay so you don’t get hungry during the day.

When you are creating easy healthy meal ideas it is important to make sure that you take your time. Mix things up so that you aren’t bored. Keep your menu interesting and varied so you never get bored with the dishes that you prepare. Try adding different flavors to your meals. You can always add in vegetables and fruits to give them a little flavor boost. With a little bit of imagination, you can easily create healthy quick meal ideas that are good for you and will keep you coming back for more.
